10 Greatest Wimbledon Champions Of All Time

1. Martina Navratilova

There is not much that can be said about Martina Navratilova except she is undoubtedly the greatest women's tennis player of all time, bar none. Billie Jean King once described Navratilova as:
"The greatest singles, doubles and mixed doubles player who's ever lived."
To receive such an accreditation from another highly successful tennis player just goes to show how brilliant Navratilova was. The titles she's won and the records she holds are astounding. To name but a few she won 18 Grand Slam singles titles, appeared in nine Wimbledon singles finals in a row, won a record 9 Wimbledon singles titles and a record 167 singles titles in total. She is also the only player ever to have held the number one spot in both the singles and doubles rankings for over 200 consecutive weeks. Her nine Wimbledon singles titles came between 1978 and 1990, during which she also won numerous doubles titles. Along with her partner, Pam Shriver, Martina won 109 consecutive doubles matches. Her domination is simply unparalleled across both the women's and the men's game. The figures stand alone as incredible statements to her genius and it is unlikely that such achievements will ever be surpassed.
