Steffi Graf, Germany's most successful tennis player, comes a close second on this list of all-time Wimbledon women's greats. In an illustrious career she won 22 Grand Slam singles titles, the most singles majors by anyone in the open era. This is an incredible achievement and one that has not been surpassed in 15 years since her retirement. Her greatest achievement came in 1988 when she won all four Grand Slam titles and Olympic gold. This too is a feat that has not been matched, and is unlikely to equalled in a long time due to the highly competitive nature of top-flight tennis. As well as highlighting her talent, this also proved her versatility across all surfaces, making her a formidable opponent all around the world. She won a staggering seven Wimbledon singles titles between 1988 and 1996, only missing out on lifting the title in 1990 and 1994. This is an incredible record that highlights her dominance during this era. Although she didn't have much of a doubles game, unlike the Williams sisters or Billie Jean King, Graf's sheer dominance over that era earns her a place on the list of Wimbledon's all-time greats.
