10 Hardest Players In English Premier League History
6. Eric Cantona
Known colloquially as the "King of Manchester", Eric Cantona is now seen as a revelatory figure when he appeared on the scene during the dawn of the Premier League, but as revolutionary a footballer as he was, he was also one of the most egotistical, controversial and temperamentally challenged players of the 1990s.
These three things when combined together would go on to define one of his biggest (but not exactly brightest) moments in a Manchester United shirt.
This is of course a reference to one of the most infamous incidents in football history. One that saw Eric Cantona completely - yet very understandably -lose his s**t after being provoked by a heckling opposition "fan", who was simply more of an idiotically bigoted racist than an actual fan of the team he was allegedly supporting.
After this fascist moron in the stands decided to stir up some apprehensive feelings within the big Frenchman - chanting "foreigner" (amongst other things) to him repeatedly, King Eric decided to initiate football's anti-racism movement single-footedly, when he channeled his inner Bruce Lee and introduced the bottom of his boot to the front of his face.
This earned him a fairly undeserved ban from the league and even a two-week prison sentence.
