10 Lessons Learned From UFC Fight Night: Bisping vs. Le

7. Yuta Sasaki Made A Huge First Impression

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9cdvSxG9bUw We cannot put enough emphasis on this: Yuta Sasaki made a huge first impression in his debut UFC in Macau today! He opened the fight with an explosive run across the ring capped off with a flying knee attempt. It missed, but it told you just how seriously he wanted to impress in the bout. Within moments he had Canadian vet Roland Delorme tied up against the cage. Seconds after that he mounted Delorme's back, dragging him to the ground and locking in a tight rear-naked choke for the submission victory. Delorme isn't anywhere near a top ten bantamweight, and he's probably looking at a cut from the promotion with this loss, but he was coming into the bout with a winning record and making his seventh appearance in the UFC. What does that mean? A lot of debuting fighters get opponents who have had just one or two fights in the UFC. Sasaki got one who had over a half-dozen fights, and made it look easy. That's why the Japanese Shoot, Deep, and Vale Tudo Japan vet is such a highly touted prospect.
