10 Little Known Facts About Ronda Rousey

2. Pro Wrestling Inspiration

There's no denying the fact that Rousey does conduct herself similar to a pro wrestler more then a fighter. What isn't known though is that her nickname "Rowdy" is pro wrestling inspired as well. Rousey originally got the nickname from pro wrestling star "Rowdy" Roddy Piper. It would definitely fit both fighter's personality. However, Ronda almost didn't take the nickname. The reasoning behind this is that she believed that it might be disrespectful. The nickname originally came from a friend and Rousey was originally against using it. However, this changed in a meeting with Piper himself that was arranged by a mutual trainer of both Gene LeBell. In the meeting, Piper gave Rousey his approval and she went onto embrace the nickname. The rest as they say is history.
