In one interview a few years back, Ronda Rousey stated that she goes on four year cycles. As an example she pointed out her four years of international competition in judo that resulted in an Olympic bronze medal at the 2008 Beijing Games. It was in that same interview that she felt she would probably follow the same cycle for MMA and subsequently movie acting. There was some feedback on the issue and she supposedly later clarified the issue as UFC President Dana White got a little antsy about the comments. That's actually a little understandable considering that Rousey is basically one of White's cash cows in the UFC today. Rousey's comments are certainly interesting and might make sense if one were to round consider her judo career. However, that's not to say that her MMA career will follow the same path or her movie career. It is quite possible for Rousey to balance the two as she already has up to this point. Such a balance also depends on the quality of competition she has to face over the next few years. While latest opponent Alexis Davis may have been an easy win and Gina Carano has been out for a while, opponents like Bethe Correia, Cat Zingano, Holly Holm and Cristiane "Cyborg" Justino are no slouches. She may retire from MMA after a loss to one of those opponents but she isn't at that Georges St.-Pierre stage of having defended the title for so long to a weary state just yet.
