Some players just cannot take a hint. What more does Brendan Rodgers have to do to make it clear to Fabio Borini that he just wants him to go away? Having farmed him out on loan to Sunderland last season, Liverpool accepted two bids for him this summer, and Rodgers was vocal in his belief that the Italian should leave the club for the sake of his career.
''I think Fabios situation is clear. All the players who there have been doubts about know exactly where they are at. For him, its best to move on and get playing regularly. But thats something he has to decide. - Brendan Rodgers, August 2014.
Determined to prove his worth, Borini snubbed permanent deals at both Sunderland and QPR, however, and so far, he is failing miserably. With both Mario Balotelli and Rickie Lambert out of sorts, and Daniel Sturridge spending most of the season injured, Borini has been given ample opportunity to impress, but has still failed to find the back of the net in seven appearances.
''In the summer, there was a lot of talk. There werent big misunderstandings, my wish is to play in a top club and Liverpool is a top club. There have never been real problems, I know what my goals are and how I can reach them. Staying at Liverpool was one of them. Im in a great team that tries to win every competition and thats what I want. This year, Id like to improve compared to what Ive done in the past. So I want to score more than ten goals. - Fabio Borini, September 2014.
Borini is forcing it. He is clearly not in his managers plans, and the sooner he realises that there are a plethora of managers who would be delighted to have him, the better for his career. So that's a wrap - do you agree? As always, feel free to leave your thoughts and opinions in the comment section below.
