6. Stan Collymore
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wCM5QXJ86Ns When Stan Collymore joined the Reds from Nottingham Forest for a then British record of £8.5 million during the summer of 1995, it goes without saying that there was an infinite level of pressure heaved upon his shoulders. God, or Robbie as Mrs Fowler had christened him, had been left out of the starting line-up in favour of the clubs marquee signing, so it was imperative that the England international make a good first impression. With anticipation building up inside Anfield ahead of his debut against Sheffield Wednesday in August, the 24 year old instantly began paying back the hefty price tag, firing home an astonishing winner from 30 yards. It was a goal which nearly ripped the net from the goalposts, as the former Forest forward twisted and turned before unleashing the pile-driver. Predictably, the roar of the crowd reached fever pitch as they celebrated the only goal of the game. The troubled maverick may never have quite hit the heights that many expected of him during his time at the club, but for those who were there to witness that firecracker against Sheffield Wednesday on that warm summers afternoon, they will argue that it was a moment worth every penny.
