10 Most Controversial Motocross Riders Of All Time

9. Travis Pastrana

We all know Travis Pastrana. The man is an absolute hero to anyone who has ever thrown their leg over a motocross bike. But even though Pastrana has become such a legend within the sport, and action sports as a whole, his career has not been short of controversy. After having one of the most successful amateur careers ever Pastrana went pro with factory Suzuki. He instantly made his mark, winning the 2000 AMA 125cc national title, and also helping team USA take Motocross des Nations victory in France, 2000. This was also followed up by an East Coast 125cc Supercross title in 2001. However, there were already doubts on how Travis€™ career would progress due to his increased interest in freestyle. Their doubts had been legitimised after, at just 14, Pastrana dislocated his spine from his pelvis during a freestyle competition. A whole host of injuries followed. Some of which, including various freestyle and free ride crashes, people blame for Travis€™ lack of wins in the premier 250cc class. Both Suzuki, and the serious racing community, realised that due to his wild and free attitude, Travis would never achieve what he was destined to in motocross. However, he still remains one of the most talented, inspirational, and certainly most famous riders ever.
