10 Most Unique Sports You Won't Believe Exist

6. Buzkashi

OK, Buzkashi can be a little difficult to grasp and also a bit unnerving. Partly because several variations exist throughout central Asia, and it is thought originated from the Nomadic Mongols, who were not known for their stern observations on rules and regulations.

The game is played on horseback - once again, Mongol origins - and involves getting the mutilated corpse of a calf or goat into a scoring area. Aside from the requisite iron stomach, riders are generally quite tough: playing through a number of injuries is commonplace in Buzkashi. Unlike many sports age and experience are the most prized attribute and the best riders are typically over the age of 40.

The game was banned in Afghanistan, where it is the national sport, by the Taliban who deemed it immoral: upon their ousting from the region the game has seen a rise in interest, much to the dismay of many a goat.
