10 NFL Stars Who Nearly Played For Other Teams

6. Drew Brees - Miami Dolphins

It's a story brought up every time the Miami Dolphins square up to the New Orleans Saints, as Drew Brees could've built his legacy in Florida. The Dolphins pretty much had a straight choice of potentially-elite quarterbacks, but opted for Daunte Culpepper. Both players were recovering from injuries, with Brees nursing his shoulder back to full strength while Culpepper was coming back from major knee surgery. The Dolphins made the absolute wrong choice in trading their second round pick away for Culpepper who was released a year later, while Brees went onto San Diego before winding up in New Orleans, where he won the Super Bowl and set the single season passing yard record in 2011 at 5,476. That has since been topped by Peyton Manning who tallied up one extra yard.
