10 Player Spurs Shouldn't Have Got Rid Of

8. Clint Dempsey

Spurs signed Clint Dempsey in the summer of 2012 from Fulham and a year later he had left to join Seattle Sounders in MLS. Dempsey wasn't a typical Spurs player - he's hard working, aggressive and passionate - but that's exactly why they should have held on to him. He offered something different and gave Spurs grit, drive and a backbone that they don't always have. Not only that, but he also has an eye for goal - he scored seven in 22 Premier League starts for Spurs and twelve in 32 starts in all competitions for the club. The United States international was just 30 years old when Spurs sold him and should have been in his playing prime in the Premier League. He went on to prove himself as a top player at the 2014 World Cup, scoring twice - against Ghana and Portugal - as his country reached the second round (he's also scored against the likes of Brazil, Spain, Italy, Germany, England and Belgium in his time as an international player).
