10 Players Everton Should Regret Not Signing

8. Scott Parker

Another player who would have been ideal in the Everton midfield, Scott Parker probably regrets choosing money over football. Back in 2005, Everton were firmly in the race to sign Chelsea€™s midfielder, with an Everton spokesman denying that they had dropped out of the chase to sign the midfielder. The Blues were reportedly happy to pay the £6m fee, but his high wages were proving a problem. He eventually joined Newcastle United and then West Ham where he would become a consistent performer and even be named the Football Writers€™ Association Footballer of the Year in 2011. Parker even played an important role in his country€™s failed Euro 2012 campaign, becoming a key player for the national side. His performances have since left Evertonians wondering what might have been had he gone on to partner Mikel Arteta in the heart of their midfield in what would have been a dynamic and exciting partnership. They will also wonder whether his presence could have aided their eventual loss to Villareal in the Champions League qualifying rounds where a player of his quality would certainly have made a difference.
