10 Players Newcastle Have ALREADY Missed Out On This Summer
5. Jason Denayer
Proof of transfer rumour: http://www.insidefutbol.com/2015/06/18/lyon-to-open-talks-for-former-celtic-defender-jason-denayer/215403/ The Manchester City man, who spent last season on loan at Celtic, has entered negotiations with Lyon and looks like another up-and-comer Newcastle will miss out on this window. That's if there were ever seriously interested, of course. No one will care about Denayer's non-arrival on Tyneside. He played in Scotland last season which is plainly the equivalent of League One, or maybe worse, while last week when starting for Belgium against Wales he was given the runaround byHal Robson-Kanu of Reading, no less. There's absolutely no doubt that Newcastle need central defenders this summer. Fabricio Coloccini has proved over the past two years that he simply isn't up to Premier League standard any more. Mike Williamson has allegedly been told he can leave the club (FINALLY!), while Steven Taylor seems to suffer at least one 'career threatening injury' per season. This leaves new boy Jamaal Lascelles and Paul Dummet as The Magpies only realistic contenders for a starting place heading into pre season. Let's hope United are linked with at least 120 more defenders over the summer and manage to get at least two 'top quality', 'purple' players over that line...
