For Brazilian wonderkid Keirrison, however, that was not the case, as he was immediately farmed out on loan to Benfica as soon as his feet touched Catalonian soil in the summer of 2009 - the first of many. An expensive acquisition, the 20 year old was confident in his ability, ready to go about 'fulfilling the dream of playing at the best club in the world'.

The first and last time the Brazilian playmaker has ever donned a Barcelona kit was at his press unveiling five years ago. Not even entrusted with a run-out in a pre-season friendly, Keirrison has spent the last five years on loan at Benfica, Fiorentina, Santos, Cruzeiro, and Cortiba, where he has consistently struggled to make an impact.
