10 Players Who Probably Regret Joining Man Utd
1. Juan Sebastian Veron
If Juan Sebastian Veron had been left in any doubts over the success of his time in England, it was spelled out to him in black and white when The Times named him as one of the 50 worst transfers in the history of the Premier League. Veron became the most expensive player in British football history when he completed his £28.1 million move from Lazio to Manchester United in 2001 but left the club with his reputation in tatters.
The South American had difficulty adjusting to the fast-paced nature of the English Premier League, where he was not afforded the time on the ball he had been accustomed to in Italy, and scored just seven goals in 51 appearances for the club. United manager Sir Alex Ferguson came to his defence on a number of occasions - notoriously with his foul-mouthed tirade against the players critics but even he could not deny that the move had been a regrettable mistake for all involved.
Veron was sold to Chelsea after just two seasons at the club, and with his reputation already in tatters, again failed to impress as he managed one goal in seven appearances. His spell in England was summarised by the Times's 50 worst... list.
