The circumstances surrounding Bebe's move to Manchester United are odd. In 2010, despite the fact then-manager Sir Alex Ferguson had never once watched him play, the forward moved from Vitória de Guimarães to Old Trafford only five weeks after he had signed for the Portuguese side. Needless to say, it hasn't quite worked out. Perhaps Bebe's first clue that moving to United might not be the best idea in the world was the fact Ferguson had never even seen him play before, met him for the first time on the day of his transfer and signed him based purely on the advice of his assistant Carlos Queiroz. Such limited preparation has seen Bebe flop at the Theatre of Dreams, where he has made just two appearances for the club during a four-year period that has taken in three season-long loans at Besiktas, Rio Ave and Paços de Ferreira. Clearly deemed surplus to requirements, the striker is still on the books at United, though must be wishing he stayed with Vitória.
