10 Players That Stole A Living From West Ham

2. Freddie Ljungberg

Three years after playing his part in the infamous Arsenal invincibles€™ season, West Ham signed Freddie Ljungberg for a fee of £3 million. With a salary of £85,000 a week, he immediately found himself at the top end of West Ham€™s wage bill; which was fine being the world class footballer he was and the star player potential he held. Star player however, he was not, and after failing to make any sort of impact in his 25 appearances, his contract was terminated early at a whopping cost of £6 million: twice the amount that was paid for him! To put this in even simpler, and more hard hitting, terms; he played an intrinsic role in Arsenal's unbeatable title winning season of 2004, then arrived at West Ham and did next to nothing. Then to add insult to injury, it cost twice his initial fee to get rid of him. No further information is necessary to make the case for Freddie Ljungberg's position on this list. Bad investment is an understatement.
