Jores Okore was known to be attracting interest from the likes of Chelsea during his days at Danish club FC Nordsjaelland but he eventually penned a four-year deal at Aston Villa and it could not have gone much worse for the defender.

In just his third appearance for the club against Newcastle United, he suffered a cruciate ligament injury and would subsequently spend as many as 14 months on the sidelines.

Upon his return, he would help Villa to some positive results but despite playing a part in the club's survival in the top flight and run to the FA Cup final, their heavy defeats at the end of the 2014-15 campaign began their alarming demise.

Okore has featured just 14 times but his lack of playing time, the club's relegation to the Championship and being demoted to the reserves has left his future up in the air.

Villa will probably be keen to get his wages off their expenses but there is no certainty that Okore will find interest in any of European football's top divisions. It's a far cry from being regarded as one of the continent's most promising centre-backs.
