10 Players Who Probably Regret Joining Aston Villa
7. Marlon Harewood
Unlike Reo-Coker, Harewood found himself on the substitutes' bench during the closing weeks of the 2006-07 season and he had more reason to look to depart West Ham United.
A transfer to Wigan Athletic had been in the offing after the Latics retained their Premier League status on the final day of the campaign but a late bid from Aston Villa led to Harewood having a change of heart and over time, realisation struck that he had made the wrong choice.
Throughout his time in the West Midlands, he made just one start in the Premier League with a further 28 appearances coming off the bench. He became known for his impact in the latter stages of games but he would have expected more game time under Martin O'Neill.
Aside from a spell with Blackpool in 2010-11, Harewood would spend the remainder of his career outside of the top flight. Villa had spent £4m on his services but he has never commanded a transfer fee since 2007.
He has spent the 2015-16 season playing for Nuneaton Town in the National League North.
