Tony Daley spent the first nine years of his career representing his hometown club Aston Villa and it was a period where he would progress into an England international and make 233 league appearances for the club.

During the 1993-94 campaign though, he spent time on the substitutes' bench and when Wolverhampton Wanderers boss Graham Taylor came calling, he jumped at the chance to move to Molineux to play for a manager who he had enjoyed his best years under at Villa and with England.

However, injury would restrict the winger to just one appearance in his first season and while 23 in his second was an improvement, it still wasn't the playing time that he had been hoping for.

He barely played in his final two seasons at Wolves before being handed a free transfer. Being given the freedom to leave Wolves may have come as some relief to Daley and he was able to help Watford to promotion to the top flight but he never recovered from leaving Villa at the age of 27 - a time when he was supposed to hit his peak years.
