10 Problems Only Sunderland Fans Will Understand

10. Some Of The Worst Seasons Imaginable

Only a few teams are fully qualified to talk about yo-yo blues, specifically those you get when your team is bouncing between the Premier League and Championship on what seems like a season-to-season basis. However, out of all the West Broms, West Hams, and Crystal Palaces of the world, Sunderland have probably had the most dramatically unpredictable form in recent history. A glorious record-breaking promotion under Peter Reid was followed by two legendary 7th place finishes at the turn of the century, only for relegation to follow a short couple of years later. Not just any relegaion - the worst of relegations since the inception of the Premier League, the team scoring only 19 points over the course of the 2002/3 campaign. That was shortly broken a few years later in 2005/6...again by the Black Cats, managing to somehow amass just 15 points - winning only three games in the process.
