When will people learn that the World Cup should not be meddled with? There's nothing wrong with the tournament as it is. 32 teams, electric group games, a slightly subdued second round and a catastrophic England exit, leading to a high quality remainder of the tournament. That's how the World Cup is, and that's how the World Cup should be. Figo has suggested raising the number of teams to '40 or 48' with the tournament even being played out across two continents. That's just... NO. Why would anybody want that? And while the 42-year-old appears to be a 'man of the people', doesn't he realise the increased pressure on World Cup sticker collectors? The kids (yes... kids...) struggle to fill 32 teams, let alone 48. Fans first, Figo. Fans first.
