10 Reasons To Watch Anderson Silva vs Nick Diaz At UFC 183

1. Title Implications

Anderson Silva said he wasn't looking for another shot at Chris Weidman... but he also mentioned that he wouldn't exactly turn one down. Nick Diaz, when he signed a contract extension with the UFC for three fights recently, said he was looking for big fights, or a title fight, or whatever would get him a title fight. Frankly, even though he hasn't won since 2012, beating Silva could earn Diaz a title shot. And beating Diaz could give the UFC an excuse to put Silva back in the octagon with Weidman for the middleweight belt. A lot depends on the fighters themselves: does Diaz want to stay at 185, fighting guys much bigger than himself? Does Silva really want to simply focus on fun, non-title match-ups? No matter who wins this fight, there's no question that Dana White and co. would love to see either of these guys fighting for gold at some point in 2015, because they are legitimately in the top five of the UFC right now as far as name recognition and buy rates go.
