RVP has a new boss. Only in this case, his new boss... is his old one. RVP will step onto the plane home with LVG and they'll both ride down the motorway to Old Trafford, for the start of the new Premier League season in August. The question is, will they walk into Old Trafford as heroes, who took the World Cup by storm, or two blokes that everyone will have forgotten about for a month? RVP, in spite of suffering from several injuries, has lit the Premier League alight in the previous few years, finishing twice as Golden Boot winner and scoring some superb goals along the way. In spite of that, he has yet to take the international stage by the horns, churning out disappointing performance after disappointing performance. In his defence, he entered Euro 2008 and World Cup 2010 with very limited fitness, following on from two injuries but, equally, can anyone even remember his performance from 2012, when he was at the peak of his powers? I certainly can't. On the brink of his 31st birthday, RVP is running out of chances to make an impact on the international stage. In a time where a lacklustre Dutch squad is going to need him to make good on such promise, eyes will be on him to see if he comes through.
Betting on being a brilliant brother to Bodhi since 2008 (-1 Asian Handicap). Find me @LiamJJohnson on Twitter where you might find some wonderful pearls of wisdom in a stout cocktail of profanity, football discussion and general musings. Or you might not. Depends how red my eyes are.
