In June 2007, Atlanta Falcons Quarterback and rags to riches success story - Michael Vick was arrested in conjunction with an investigation into an illegal dog fighting ring being operated from a kennel business he owned.

Vick would later admit to his active involvement with the ring over a 6 year period, overseeing the brutal neglect and cruelty that the dogs were forced through. He was found guilty of conspiring in interstate aid of an unlawful animal fighting venture and sentenced to 23 months in prison.

Vick was picked up by the Philadelphia Eagles following his release, before moving to his current team - The New York Jets, in 2014.
