Jason High had every right to be upset following an early stoppage in his loss to Rafael Dos Anjos. It was a big fight for him, considering it was his first fight ever against a ranked opponent. After the loss, he mildly shoved referee Kevin Mulhall. That led to him being released a week later for his actions. While he deserved to be disciplined and suspended, for him to be fired is extremely harsh. He never tried to seriously hurt Mulhall. The shove was more in an act of frustration. What would have the UFC done if Jon Jones or Ronda Rousey ever did something to that extent? Would the UFC really try to set an example and fire one of their biggest draws? The firing made High out to the scapegoat in the UFC trying to be more disciplined. High had never been involved in any incident in the past. It was nothing more than act of frustration from someone who has worked hard in trying to upset a ranked opponent. The firing came off as cheap and unnecessary by the UFC. For such a major company to do that was shocking to see.
