10 Shocking Incidents Luis Suarez Wants You To Forget

10. Racism? FA Verdict - Guilty

We start with one of the most disturbing Luis Suarez incidents, the time he racially abused a fellow professional during a Liverpool vs Manchester United game in October 2011. The following transcript is from the Football Association investigation into exactly what was said after Suarez kicked United's Patrice Evra - Evra: F------ hell, why did you kick me? Suarez: Because you€™re black. Evra: Say it to me again, I€™m going to kick you.

Suarez: I don€™t speak to blacks.

Evra: OK, now I think I€™m going to punch you.

Suarez: OK, blackie, blackie, blackie.

What was Suarez's defence for these reprehensible comments and their connotations? Well, supposedly in his native Uruguay that's an acceptable way to speak to people. You can make your own mind up if cultural differences is a valid reason for speaking like that, but in English culture, it certainly is not - the FA hit the player with an 8 match ban. Suarez then blamed the media for the incident. It was abundantly clear that he felt hard done by and really wasn't all too sorry for his comments. Shockingly his club, Liverpool FC, printed T shirts supporting Suarez, with the squad and manager defending the player. No one in the team seemed to care about the truth, they blindly backed him, hurting the image of the club worldwide.

It remains one of the most shocking incidents in English Premier League football history. In one ignorant blast we had seen Suarez completely undermine the 'Kick racism out of football' campaign, the message sent was instead 'kick racism out of football... for 8 games'.
