10 Shocking Incidents Luis Suarez Wants You To Forget

9. Refusing Evra's Handshake

To Patrice Evra's credit he allowed the FA judicial process to take place and then put the racism incident behind him. When Liverpool next came to Old Trafford, a forgiving Evra offered his hand to Suarez in the pre-match handshakes. Unbelievably, Suarez declined the olive branch. Evra grabbed the player as if to express his shock, before the match officials moved the incident on. It instantly left a bad taste across English football, Suarez's unrepentant attitude was staggering. United later ran out 2 - 1 winners thanks to a Wayne Rooney brace. The headlines however were all about Suarez's ugly actions. Liverpool Football Club were again damaged by their player's behaviour, "For a club with their history, I'd get rid of him, I really would," Sir Alex Ferguson stated, "He is a disgrace to Liverpool Football Club. That player should not be allowed to play for Liverpool again." Liverpool manager Kenny Dalglish saw things differently, cutting a bizarre ranting interview to Sky "I think you are very severe and I think you are bang out of order to blame Luis Suárez for anything that happened here today!" Who was to blame then? Suarez was on camera refusing the handshake. To paint him as the victim was ludicrous. Dalglish then blamed Sky Sports News which makes absolutely no sense at all. A few months later and the manager was fired, with the rant seeing his side lose form in the league. Suarez had indirectly undermined the manager, Dalglish had himself been a Liverpool legend as a player, now he was out of a job partly due to his lack of man management in Suarez's indiscipline.
