10 Shocking Liverpool Departures Nobody Expected

10. Luis Suarez

Perhaps not shocking when you think about it logically, but it was certainly a long time coming. When the Uruguayan striker showed up at Anfield during the 2011-12 season, there was a lot of pressure on him to perform; and for the most part he really, really didn't, spending most of his time collapsing to the ground like Bambi struggling to walk on the ice than he did hitting the back of the net. When the Patrice Evra "incident" happened the next season, it seemed like a no-brainer that Suárez would be gotten rid of at the earliest convenience. And yet, in his infinite wisdom, King Kenny Dalglish decided to keep the lad around. Not great for PR purposes - or his employment prospects either - but the following season Suárez managed to turn public opinion back around with some truly dazzling performances and, crucially, no more racism. Even when the biting thing happened at the World Cup, it seemed like everyone had put up with much worse from him - and yet it turned out to be the straw that broke the camel's back. The Liverpool front line still hasn't really recovered.
