10 Shocking Spurs Departures That Nobody Expected

9. Sol Campbell

Sol Campbell came through the ranks at Spurs and became by far their best player in a very underwhelming era for the club. Having burst on to the scene in 1992, Campbell went on to make 255 league appearances for Spurs and he won the League Cup with the club in 1999. He became an England regular whilst still at White Hart Lane and it really was inevitable that he would move on to bigger and better things - but very few people could have predicted where that would be at. Campbell moved to Spurs' bitter North London rivals Arsenal and, to make matters worse, he did so for free. It was seen as the ultimate betrayal and Spurs fans still call him "Judas" to this day. He had a very successful career with the Gunners, winning two Premier League titles and three FA Cups, and was part of the "invincibles" team that went a whole season unbeaten in the 2003-04 Premier League season.
