10 Most Sickening Injuries In Sport History

5. Djibril Cisse Leg Snaps Back Unnaturally (Football)

Djibril Cisse is a footballer who has had to withstand two fairly horrendous leg breaks in his career. The first came in 2004, whilst a Liverpool player, the Frenchman's boot got caught in the turf, resulting in a broken tibia and fibula. But the incident reccurred in 2006 for the national team in a friendly match against China, this time from an accidental collision with Zheng Zhi. It has to be one of the most unnatural positions for the leg to be put in, as for a split second, his studs become stuck in the turf and snaps in the middle of the shin. Just the very thought of a bone which doesn't have a joint snapping in such a manner is shudder-inducing. There are videos of the injury online for those of you with the stomach to view it. What's so sickening about this injury is not only just how unnatural it looks, but that Cisse could be heard screaming in agony by all on the pitch and most likely a great deal of those off it. The man was exceptionally unlucky to have to face two such horrifying injuries, but was thankfully fortunate enough to make a full and successful recovery both times.
