10 Strangest Ever Manchester United Signings

3. Carlos Tevez

Andrew Matthews/EMPICS SportAndrew Matthews/EMPICS SportIn 2007, Carlos Tevez was at the heart of one of the strangest transfer sagas in Premier League history when he joined Manchester United from West Ham. Strange, and complicated. In July of that year, United and Tevez agreed on a £20 million move which was strongly contested by the Hammers, who claimed they owned the registration rights of the player and demanded the majority of the transfer fee. Iranian-born businessman Kia Joorabchian also claimed he owned the players€™ registration, and United and West Ham sought FIFA's assistance to rule on Tevez's ownership. In the end, a £2 million settlement was reached with the Hammers being paid £2 million to release Tevez's registration and the Argentina forward eventually completed his move to Old Trafford.
