10 Summer Football Transfers That Came Completely Out Of Nowhere
2. David Luiz - PSG To Chelsea
When Brazilian enigma David Luiz left Chelsea for the first time in June 2014, PSG signed him for fee of £50 million, a world record for a defender at that time.
This was seen as quite an inflated price tag for a player who was known for his unpredictable playing style at the back, and those concerns were only highlighted during Brazil's 2014 World Cup 7-1 thrashing at the hands of Germany.
Nevertheless, Luiz went on to enjoy a decent two year spell at PSG, winning Ligue 1 and the Coupe de France on two occasions.
Then, just when it looked like the Premier League had seen the last of the eccentric centre back, Chelsea extraordinarily decided to bring Luiz back to the club on the last day of the 2016 summer transfer window.
This questionable move eventually turned out to be an Antonio Conte masterstroke as Luiz was a constant starter in his three at the back system which eventually earned Chelsea yet another Premier League title, and the Brazilian's first for the club.
He may have reverted back to his deeply inconsistent ways whilst turning out for Arsenal in recent times, but his second coming at Chelsea went from insane to inspired in the space of just one season.
