10 Sunderland Cult Heroes From The Premier League Era
5. Nyron Nosworthy
Okay, so maybe Nyron Nosworthy is the poorest player on this list, but that doesn't stop him from being one of the club's greatest cult heroes of modern times. He officially started out as a right back or centre back, but would frequently pop up anywhere on the pitch that had grass. Technically, his defending was reasonable, but his lapses in concentration were always catastrophic, shaving years off the average life expectancy of a Sunderland season ticket holder. One famous incident even saw Nosworthy marauding his way from one box to another, skipping past opponents like Maradona in his prime. It had the entire stadium on their feet, but unfortunately could only find Row Z with his eventual shot as opposed to the net. He was a terrifying defender, but now that he's gone, it's okay to laugh about it all.
