Southern California isn't a consistent market for MMA, but Los Angeles is still a major city. It's one of the main focal points for the UFC to go to, whenever they setup a media tour. Whenever I've received a press release about an upcoming tour, Los Angeles is right after Las Vegas as their second destination. They still depend on the market greatly for promotion and to hold a potential event. The Staples Center has held UFC events on occasion, yet it's still a major event when they decide to hold fights there. For them to have to cancel and disappoint fans could be damage their relationship in the long haul. They would need to make it an necessity to have a massive main event to undo this cancellation. They'll eventually be obligated to return to Los Angeles and would have to bring something better than their last main event there. A fight on the level of Mauricio "Shogun" Rua against Brandon Vera won't cut it.
