7. He Has Already Proven Himself Against English Opposition
Peter Byrne/PA Archive/Press Association ImagesAlexis Sanchez is set to be unleashed on Premier League defenders next season as he makes his debut in England, but he has already proven himself against English opposition before he has even kicked a ball in anger in the topflight. Three Lions fans may have repressed a certain memory of England's pre-World Cup friendly against Chile in November 2013. That evening, at Wembley no less, Sanchez scored both goals as Chile ran out convincing 2-0 winners over Roy Hodgson's side. In scoring a brace for his country, the forward emulated Chilean legend Marcelo Salas who, fifteen years earlier, also scored a double against the Three Lions. With 37 goals, Salas is Chile's all-time record goalscorer, though Sanchez looks well-placed to beat that tally having already notched 24 goals for his country.
