7. He's Seen Some Horrible Things

In January 2010 the Togolese national team - travelling on a bus through the Angolan Province of Cabinda before the African Cup of Nations started - was attacked by the Front for the Liberation of the Enclave of Cabinda. The bus driver, the team's assistant manager and media officer were all killed, while several other were injured when the terrorist group opened fire on the bus. Togo pulled out of the tournament before their first game and Adebayor subsequently retired from international football after being left traumatised by the horrific event.
