4. The UFC Plans To Fly Him To Brazil To Witness Aldo vs. Mendes 2
This news was floating around before Conor McGregor even fought at UFC 178. We guess the promotion was counting on a McGregor victory. The Irish star addressed the rumour after his fight at the event, saying he'd be more than happy to be in Brazil for the bout. Lets take a closer look at this situation: Before his fourth fight even happened, the UFC was planning to fly Conor McGregor to Brazil to sit cageside at Jose Aldo's next fight. Now, UFC stars and retired stars are often seen cageside. However, when you take a rising star in the division to a fight like this, you're sending a message: hey, this guy here, he might be next. The UFC is also known to bring title challengers into the cage on occasion, to set up the next fight. They don't do it often, and it can backfire (read: Bellator, Rampage vs Mo and Ortiz vs Bonnar), but it certainly ups the excitement level. Whether he is granted the title shot depends a lot on the outcome of Aldo vs. Mendes, because should Mendes win, Aldo will likely get a rematch - but it's looking more and more as if Conor McGregor will in fact be fast-tracked to a title shot.
