10 Things UFC Wants You To Forget About Matt Hughes

9. Autographs

If you€™re not going to see him at a pre-arranged signing session, good luck getting Matt Hughes€™ autograph. The welterweight legend€™s signature is notoriously hard to come by as he refuses to sign anything for any opportunistic fans who happen to see him in the street, fearful that they will use the autograph to make money on eBay. Hughes has even taken to twitter to express his miserly opinion on the subject, stating that he is happy to take photographs but not to give out his signature, though many fans have commented that Hughes is even disinclined to have a photo taken. Understandably Hughes€™ occasional reluctance to interact with the fans has caused a great deal of ill-will as they were the ones who his career was built off of. The UFC would rather Hughes€™ stance on the subject of autographing remains known only by hardcore MMA fans. Many fighters have rose to popularity in the UFC because of how much they evidently love their fans €“ John Hackleman revealed that Chuck Liddell would often skip meals in order to make sure everyone waiting had either a photograph or his signature while Wanderlei Silva has always called his fans his €˜friends€™. It could damage the legacy of Matt Hughes if word got out that he was so disinterested in his fans.
