10 Things We Learned From All Or Nothing: Tottenham Hotspur
3. Spurs Really Did Have A Nightmare With Injuries
In a season when the top two in the league, Liverpool and Manchester City, were way ahead of the rest, the other two Champions League places were up for grabs. The fact that Spurs failed to get either of them shows it was not a successful season. However, the level they were disrupted by injuries was much greater than their rivals.
Harry Kane is the biggest miss of course, and the star striker being out for a huge portion of the season was a big blow, but it was other injuries to the key players around him that really had an impact.
Had it just been Kane, Spurs possibly could have coped. Arguably the second most important player for Tottenham is Son, who could have carried some of the burden while Kane was unavailable. However, shortly after the England star was injured so was Son.
While the break in play in March did help Spurs stars recover in time to finish the campaign the initial timing of their injuries came while the team were absolutely flying, without these problems a top four finish may well have happened in Jose's first season in charge.
