In an alternate dimension somewhere, Zidane never pulled on the black and white stripes of Juventus but instead wore a slightly different variant on the strip - had things been different, Zidane could have been strutting his stuff for Newcastle at St. James' Park. Ex-football agent Barry Silkman claimed to have insider knowledge of the fact that Zidane could have left Bordeaux for Newcastle in 1996 - for as little as £1.2 million! It's amazingly cheap, especially when you consider that in the same season the club did buy a midfielder - they spent £2.5 million on Des Hamilton from Bradford. No, I don't know who he is either. Newcastle apparently scouted the Bordeaux man but declared him "not good enough" to play in England. This from the club that would later sign Albert Luque. In the end, Newcastle's loss became Juventus' gain.
