We are squarely in the legends portion of the list now. Frank Mir is a former UFC champ known for snapping arms and his rivalry with former UFC heavyweight champion Brock Lesnar. He has headlined a ton of cards, been in some epic battles, had great fights with the legendary Big Nog, and has been a company man for the UFC since day one - back in 2001, at UFC 34. Mir, 35, has fought all but two of his professional MMA fights in the UFC, and is tied for the record for most UFC fights with Josh Koscheck at 23 - but he has been knocked out seven times in those 23 fights. Mir is also 0-4 in his last four UFC fights, losing two fights by decision and two by knockout. That figure is misleading, however, because he was almost knocked out by Alistair Overeem in their bout this past February at UFC 169. Overeem, terrified of gassing in yet another fight, pulled back, which is the only reason Mir made it through the entirety of the one-sided beating. His loss to Daniel Cormier was one-sided as well, though not nearly a brutal. Being 0-3 in three fights in the UFC usually means you're done in the promotion, but again, Mir was always a company man. Being 0-4 is almost (I stress almost) unheard of, but again, Mir is "that guy" - and he seems to be looking for at least one more fight. Mir has stated that he will not fight outside the UFC, so here's where the promotion can come off smelling of roses: do not give Frank Mir another fight. Give him a cushy office job (the company has done that with several ex-fighters), if he really needs the money (he shouldn't), but don't let him back in the ring. If he won't fight elsewhere, you're preventing him from taking further unnecessary damage at a point where the man is no longer relevant in the division and won't fight for the title ever again.
