10 Ways To Make The London 2012 Olympics More Exciting

9. 10,000m

Why it Sucks: Are you kidding me? What doesn€™t suck about group of knackered athletes running around an oval track for half an hour? Round and round they go, and apart from maybe someone falling over from time to time not much more happens. Until the end that is, which is when things get pretty frantic indeed. How to Make it More Exciting: To recreate this frantic sprint for the finish throughout, Athletes must sprint every 2000m for a lap of the track and the winner of each sprint section has 5 seconds knocked off his or her overall time. It would serve to add some much needed excitement, every 5 minutes or so, in a race which is otherwise only entertaining at the end. And shorten the overall time you€™re stuck watching too of course. Potential Issues: The only real issue here, aside from the massive departure in sacred tradition, would be in the effects on the athletes. I imagine having to run for 10,000m is hard enough as it is without factoring in a double-speed dash every 5 minutes and there€™s every chance that this new version might be in violation of human rights.
