10 Ways To Make The London 2012 Olympics More Exciting

8. Discus

Why it Sucks: It€™s not that Discus sucks per se but there€™s something about throwing a weighted rubber disc that just doesn€™t seem as exciting as say, hurling a metal spike into the sky like some mighty reverse Zeus a €˜la Javelin, Discus€™ much cooler cousin. But with just one quick location change, it can be! How to Make it More Exciting: The new Discus takes place on the banks of the Serpentine, and the new objective is to skim the discus across the surface of the water like a smooth pebble. Scores are no longer measured in distance, but in the amount of skims the athlete manages to score with the Discus before it dunks in the drink. Potential Issues: Well there€™s one glaring issue in that Water Discus might not even be humanly possible. But then again the discus itself could always be adapted for aquatic planing and it€™d be a hell of a lot of fun to watch frustrated athletes try and try again as they attempted to master an entirely new game.
