10 Ways To Make The London 2012 Olympics More Exciting

6. Long Jump

Why it Sucks: Don€™t misunderstand, I€™m not suggesting that I can do any better or even anywhere close, but the current Long Jump world record of 8.95m just doesn€™t jump out on paper as a huge distance. Like many of the other sports recognised as Olympic Games, the long-jump feels like it can be made more exciting. And there€™s one simple way to get those numbers up to super-human levels. How to Make it More Exciting: Instead of the current regulation take-off board, the new Long Jump athletes launch themselves from an adapted trampoline. Immediately the entire face of the game would change and it€™d not only be ridiculously entertaining to watch, it€™d effectively create a brand new free-for-all situation in which world records were nail-bitingly set and broken by the minute. Potential Issues: It probably wouldn€™t just be records that we€™re broken by the minute; so too would be competitors€™ arms, legs, hips and just about any other bone that could be broken from an awkward landing at those sort of speeds. Safety issues would definitely have to be considered (St. John€™s at the side-lines maybe?) but my word it€™d be exciting.
