10 Ways To Make The London 2012 Olympics More Exciting

7. Shot Put

Why it Sucks: It€™s just a bit anti-climactic is all. Something about the act of hurling an iron ball down a field just feels slightly unglamorous and€I€™ll just come out and say it, it€™s dull. I mean it clearly takes a lot of commitment and strength to clear the 20m mark like most of these athletes do and I guess that should be enough to keep me hooked. But unfortunately they€™re up against video games and Netflix. How to Make it More Exciting: Instead of the circle being placed in its traditional position at the foot of the field, Athletes now make their throws from the roof of Buckingham Palace. Below, instead of soil, their launched shot meets a bed of sand that not only measures the distance of the throw but also the depth of the impact. It wouldn€™t just add a whole extra dimension to the scoring it€™d also add velocity and some much needed excitement to an otherwise pretty beige Olympic game. Potential Issues: Apart from the obvious of potentially cracking some poor score collector€™s nut open (which would just as easily happen in normal shot put mind you), I imagine securing roof access to the Queen€™s house would be a tough task. Then again, given the gravitas of the Olympic Games perhaps she€™d make a royal exception?
