10 Weirdest UFC Stories From 2016 So Far

7. Benson Henderson Jumps To Bellator

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3MhAwmeRElw Former lightweight champion Benson Henderson signed with Bellator in February - and he marks the biggest victory to date for Scott Coker's Bellator MMA as they move to establish themselves as legit competition to the UFC. Henderson is still in his prime, has probably five to seven years of solid action left ahead of him, and had a very good chance at getting another title in the UFC. He had already moved up to the welterweight division and won both his fights there, but chose secure money and free reign to have whatever sponsors he wants over a performance incentive based contract offered by the UFC, that would have paid him top dollar only if he became champ again, and also limited him to the Reebok deal, costing him tens of thousands of dollars in sponsorships. Henderson went for the money - and it may turn out that several other fighters will as well. Heavyweight Sergei Kharitonov and UFC veteran Chris Leben both signed with Bellator MMA in February as well.
