10 Weirdest UFC Stories From 2016 So Far

6. CM Punk's Opponent Is Named

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1f9WMgE-EVk What a whirlwind the CM Punk transition to MMA has been thus far. More rumours than you can shake a stick at. A shoulder injury that pushed back his debut. Melt downs in interviews with Michael Landsberg and Kevin Wong. A move to Milwaukee to train with the legendary Duke Roufus. And then there was the strange circumstances around his first opponent, now officially Mickey Gall. Gall was discovered on Dana White's new show, looking for a fight. He won his pro debut the night his episode filmed. He called out Punk, respectfully. White granted him his wish, given he won his UFC debut. The UFC then hired a camera man for Legacy FC who trained in MMA to be Gall's first UFC opponent. If you didn't know better, you'd think they were trying to pad his record. In any case, had Michael Jackson (yes, that's his real name) won, he would not have been granted a fight with Punk, and he only had a one-fight deal to begin with. Gall won, however, choking out Jackson in forty five seconds. Punk was then brought into the cage. The two shook hands, and in a few months they will fight. So Punk at long last knows who he will be fighting, though not exactly when.
