One of the greatest - and certainly one of the most purely talented - strikers in the history of the Premier League almost never made it to North London, where he would go on to become a bona-fide legend. The story goes that before Bruce Rioch rescued the Dutchman from his torrid and much-criticsed spell with Inter Milan, the supremely gifted striker was on the verge of a move to Glasgow instead. The club even reportedly had the player at the Loch Lomond hotel, and had shown him around the stadium and Glasgow and were convinced he was close to agreeing to the move. Unfortunately, Arsenal got wind of his availability Rioch made his move and Bergkamp ended up reinventing Arsenal's history as a key member of Arsene Wenger's rejuvenated side. Just imagine what he might have done at Rangers with Laudrup and Gazza...
